Shine On

I recently got some new products that I have been eyeing up since the Occasions Catalog came out.  The Shine On Suite has such fabulous colors and a great stamp set, I knew it would have to be part of my collection.  And then I was so happy to see a great color challenge from Stampin' Royalty along with a fabulous sketch at Mojo Monday to help me make my first card with these great products!  Here are both challenges:

 

Here is my card:

I love the look of the kraft with the bright colors.  It is actually unlike anything I would normally put together and I think that is what drew me to the DSP.  Plus anything shiny and sparkly, I have to have it!  I am like a crow!  Below is a shopping list, with the exception of the silver cording trim tied on the button.  That is retired.  Still scratching my head why that wasn't carried over from the Holiday Catalog, it was perfect for tying on tags!  Thanks for looking!

Those Winter Blues

Thankfully that groundhog predicted an early spring because I am not a fan of winter.  I do like a fresh light coat of snow, but after a few days it gets all dirty and gross.  I am ready for warm weather for sure!  But today at SSI we are focusing on the winter blues...or at least blue projects.  Here is mine:    

I have seen several variations of this card floating around Pinterest and even on our blog.  So I had to give it a shot.  It was really quite easy.  The blues are Pool Party, Island Indigo and Night of Navy.  I used the Shimmer White card stock and my aqua painters to create that watercolor wash of the three blues.  The stamps are from Botanicals For You.  I added some rhinestones in the center of all my flowers.  I see why so many people are making this card.  It is so easy and so cute.  Thanks for looking!  Did you see all the other projects from the gals at SSI?    

A Very Hungry Caterpillar

I struggle with kids cards sometimes.  Mostly because I might make a super embellished fancy card and when those little hands get on it, it might not survive long enough for the parents to see it, and that can be sad.  But I know a little boy who is celebrating his first birthday soon...that is special.  And I happened to know the theme of the party, so I decided to make a very special theme appropriate card.  Check it out:

So yes, this card is bigger than a normal card.  I made it 5" by 7" to fit the fruit.  I used so much different product, I almost thing it might be a good guessing game to see if you can name the stamp set and tool that used.  The fruit is made from the Apple of My Eye.  

Oh, yeah...did I mention the caterpillar moves?  How fun right?  I received a swap at Convention over the summer with a moving card.  This was actually super easy to make.  All I will say is that this card is worth at least two cents!  Pennies are used to help the little guy crawl around to get his meal.  

I used some Cucumber Crush envelope paper and made some grass with the Fringe Scissors.  The sentiment comes from the Perfect Pairings Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  I had to add 1st since it is such a special birthday and that was easy using the Little Letters Framelits.   

The caterpillar was created by stamping the watercolor splotch from For All Things and then punching out 1" circles.  The antennae come from the tree punch.  And I made the eyes by using the large circles from the owl punch.   

For the inside, I just stamped the fun sun from the Over The Rainbow set because it looked like it would have come right from the story!  I added some washi tape to dress it up a little more.

February Inkspiration Challenge

Hopefully you aren't having a Manic Monday.  We have a great INKspiration challenge for you at SSI if I do say so myself.  Check out this image:

So the challenge is to make whatever you would like inspired by this image, whether you pick the colors, the shapes, the subject, whatever.  Here is what I came up with:

Even though the speckles in the image are probably snowflakes, I thought about stars and decided to use the star elements from the Going Places Suite.  The paper and stamp set work so well together and happen to also have similar colors as the picture.  I also embossed the Sahara Sand background with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  I added some Candy Dots and some Delightful Dijon Lace Trim.  Here is a peek are the inside:

Rose Wonder Valentine

So the Rose Wonder Framelits are so cool!  I had so much fun playing with them today.  I made a pretty Rose Valentine card that would be perfect for the "Just Add V" challenge over at Just Add Ink.  Here is my card:

I cut the rose from the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and glued in onto some Rose Red card stock.  I cut two sets of leaves from Garden Green card stock.  I added those to the tiny rosebud patterned paper from the Love Blossoms DSP stack.  I use the My Valentine stamp from Bloomin' Love and added a loop of that yummy pink and gold baker's twine from last year's Paper Pumpkin kit.  I think I will give this card to my daughter for Valentine's Day, she will love the sparkly rose for sure!  Thanks for looking!

  

Rose Wonder Wedding Card

I had a friend over to stamp with me today and she brought the Rose Wonder stamp and framelit set and let me play with it!  The best friends share their stamps!  I had so much fun with this set.  I made a wedding card using this set along with the Timeless Textures.  I thought it would be good for the Love challenge over at Stamp Ink Paper Challenges.  Here is the challenge:

I cut the large rose and leaves in Whisper White and then sponged it with Wild Wasabi and Melon Mambo.  I used my fine tip glue pen to glue it down on more Whisper White and then colored inside with some Stampin' Write markers.  I added some background stamping in Sahara Sand.  This stamp set has so many wonderful sentiments in it.  I can't wait to play with it some more!  Thanks for looking!

February Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the our monthly Blog Hop here at SSI!  In the middle of February, what better subject for our hop than LOVE?  I am excited to share my project, it is a frankenstein of sorts combining the January Paper Pumpkin Kit with the Build a Banner Kit in the Annual Catalog.  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! So here is a peek at the two elements that I started with first before I get to the big reveal:

Part of the Paper Pumpkin Kit was to make a banner, but I wanted to make a bigger banner so I paired it with the Build a Banner Kit and used some other lovey dovey products to finish it off.  Here is my banner:

So aside from those two kits, I also used the Hearts Mask, the sweetheart punch, and in addition to the Watermelon Wonder sequin trim from the Paper Pumpkin Kit, I added the Blushing Bride and Silver Sequin Trim.  I was so happy to combine these two kits and make a sweet and unique Valentine's Day home decor piece.
