A Blue and Gold Birthday

Today over at SSI we are talking about banners.  Instead of making a banner or even putting a banner on a card, I decided to use the Banner Framelits on a very special birthday card, for my aunt.  I also used a fabulous color combo from the Color Throwdown.  Check out the colors:

So not only was I inspired by those colors, I also love that mug.  And I thought, hey I can do that.  Here is my card:

I used the Striped Scallop Thinlit die four times and kept all the pieces and then filled them in on the white one after I glued it down on the Lost Lagoon card base.  The aqua is Pool Party and I used some Gold Foil sheets which just were on the Weekly Deals, glad I stocked up!  For the best cuts with this thinlit, I would use it with the Precision Base Plate.  Here are some close ups:

For the banner, I layered the Whisper White onto a larger Pool Party one.  The sentiment comes from the Tin of Cards stamp set and I added some extra background stamping from Timeless Textures.  I also twirled some of the gold thread onto the back of the banners for some extra shine.

I knew I needed something else, and I thought a gold butterfly would be perfect.  I layered it onto a vellum one.  Side note, the gold foil popped right out of the thinlit with the Big Shot Die Brush.  I added some pearls for the body.

Thanks so much for looking at my card today.  Head back over to SSI for more banner projects.

  2. Beautiful card, and such great attention to detail. I loved the scales on the coffee cup, and you captured that with your technique!
